In support of my brothers and sisters in arms down in Nashville, many of whom were devastated during the unprecedented flooding that took place in the beginning of May, I am taking part in a benefit on June 27th to help them rebuild. All of the proceeds will go directly to the MusiCares Nashville Flood Relief Fund, a community service outreach of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (sponsor of the Grammy Awards). Took my first trip to Nashville at the end of September and it felt like home. Everyone is so welcoming and the level of talent is pretty incredible. I got to see some old friends and met some great new ones too. I'm already looking forward to the next trip down to my 2nd home in the south.

Well the BMI workshop finished about a month ago and was such a wonderfully intense experience. I learned so much about what it takes to be a pro songwriter and realize it's absolutely what I want to do when I grow up. Plus I met some fantastic musicians and songwriters along the way. It was such a privilege. Thanks BMI!

Good: Just found out my song “Hourglass” will be featured in an upcoming episode of “The Black Donnellys” on NBC!

Bad: The show got cancelled :-( However, you can still hear the song and watch the show on NBC.com. They are airing the rest of the season's episodes on their website every Monday night. The episode is called “Easy Is The Way” (episode #113). I don’t have info on when it will air but I’m going to be at my computer screen religiously watching! And in case you aren’t a slave to cancelled TV like I am you’ll be able to download the episode from Itunes once it airs and you can even own it on DVD at some point (here’s hoping anyway).

I was recently chosen to attend this eight-week, invitation-only workshop taught by pro songwriter Billy Sideman. Had the first class already and it was great – writers from all different walks of life coming together because of music. Really looking forward to being exposed to the talented writers taking the workshop and learning from Billy. I’ll keep you posted.

Been writing and co-writing a ton of songs lately some of which I'll be posting here. I'm hoping you guys will be kind enough to shoot me some notes on some songs to let me know which ones you'd like to hear more of in a more polished way.

My friend (and some-time manager) Ken and I will be lining up some shows for later this year and are playing a really exciting private show coming up in a few weeks (and no, it isn't anywhere that has stripper poles). More details to follow...
